UPI ID format checker
Paste a UPI ID (also called a VPA) to catch typos before you pay. The check runs in your browser; the ID isn't sent anywhere.
What a UPI ID looks like
Two parts joined by @. Before it: a name, number or mobile number chosen when the ID was created. After it: the handle of the app or bank that issued the ID. priya.sharma@oksbi and 9876543210@ybl are both valid formats.
Before you pay
- Check the name your UPI app shows after you enter the ID. That name comes from the bank and is the real check.
- You never need your UPI PIN to receive money. A request asking for your PIN to "receive" a payment is a scam.
- If a payment fails, the UPI error code tells you why.
Common questions
Can I have more than one UPI ID?
Yes. Each UPI app gives you its own ID, and many apps let you create more than one for the same bank account.
Does a valid-looking ID mean it’s safe to pay?
No. Format is only the first check. Always confirm the name your app shows before entering your PIN.
